Channel 38 Switchover

Following the news that Channel 38 will replace Channel 69 for professional users of radio microphones and in-ear monitoring systems (i), we would like to offer our customers some key information regarding the Digital SwitchOver, in order to make sense of the changes, and to allow you to make an informed decision when purchasing new equipment.

Ch 38 (606 – 614MHz) will become fully available throughout the UK from 1st January 2012, as a replacement for Ch69 (854 – 862 MHz). It is being rolled out on a geographical basis across the country with completion in 2012. Ch69 will be fully available until at least 1st January 2012, with Ch38 gradually coming into use along side it, until the switchover is fully completed. To check which frequency bands are in use in the different areas of the country at any moment in time, please use the JFMG's Channel 38 look-up tool

As we realise many of our customers who are current Ch69 users will be looking for solutions to the problem concerning their current license, we advise taking a look at the new licence terms, which offer the use of Ch38 in addition to Ch69, plus temporary use of Channels 39 and 40 where Channel 38 is not yet available.
