Black Magic Audio kick-start a summer of festivals with Allen & Heath iLiveT

Earlier this month, Black Magic Audio took the latest additions to their hire stock, the iLive T80 and T112, along with them to provide sound at Valefest in Birmingham.

Discussing his first impressions of the desks, Bill Keown, MD at BMA, says, “Following the demo from Martin Daley at Allen & Heath I knew immediately that we would invest in an iLive system. It was one of the easiest decisions we’ve had to make! We were impressed with the feature set overall, and the flexibility of the ACE digital multi system.”

Commenting on feedback he has received, he says, “BMA crews and visiting engineers pick the iLive system up quickly, enjoying the logical workflow of the layout, meaning they can get a good mix going on in no time...making it ideal for our festival schedule.”
Bill himself can testify to the iLive’s ease of use, engineering with the T80 throughout the day at Valefest. “Everybody’s impressed with the flexibility of the desk in terms of surface layout, and without exception they have complimented the sound of the desk, saying it doesn't start sounding confused like some other systems. Plus the onboard effects are incredible!”
He has also been impressed with Allen & Heath’s support, “They are really on the ball. They’re so involved with their customers, for example, they take the ideas suggested on their forum site and integrate them into the next firmware release.”
BMA purchased both desks from LMC Audio, advised by Tim Bamber and the team in Birmingham. Bill adds, “We've been dealing with LMC Birmingham since BMA started – they are always on the case with enquiries, popping up to visit and hand delivering products, pulling out all the stops to make sure we have what we need on time. LMC have a good understanding of the business, and appreciate the need for rapid turnaround.”

With a list of events in the diary, including Beach Break Live, to which they have just taken two iLive’s, and a series of dates for the touring tribute band festival, Fake Festival, they already have a busy summer ahead. Bill’s direct involvement with events and desire to get ‘stuck in’ is reflective of a company ethos which looks to take a genuine, supportive interest in its clients and the work they do. “We are not a company with an 'image'” says Bill. “I believe people use BMA time and time again because of our friendly crews, good attitude, reliability of hire stock and overall quality of service.”
